Abuja-
The Africa International Tourism and Economic Council (AITEC World) was officially launched on the 14th August, 2025 at the Continental Hotel, Abuja, in a grand ceremony attended by government representatives, diplomats, international organizations, tourism stakeholders, and the media.
In his opening address, Ambassador Dine Bouraima, President of AITEC World, underscored the urgent need to position Africa as a central player in the global tourism and economic landscape. He noted that Africa, with its population of 1.48 billion—about 17% of the world’s population—accounted for only 5% of global tourist arrivals in 2023.
“These figures reveal both the scale of the challenge and the vastness of the opportunity,” Amb. Bouraima remarked.
Bridging Africa and the World
AITEC World was established to respond to a strategic need: linking Africa to the world, and the world to Africa.
This dual mission focuses on two major objectives:
- Attracting investors, visitors, skills, and partnerships to Africa.
- Enabling African businesses, cultural leaders, and tourism actors to penetrate international markets.
“It is a balanced and productive two-way flow,” the President explained.
A Game-Changer: Data-Driven Tourism Development
One of the major innovations unveiled at the launch was AITEC’s commitment to creating a continental system for data collection and analysis in tourism, in partnership with African states.
This revolutionary tool will:
- Standardize tourism data across African countries.
- Provide real-time monitoring of market trends.
- Inform evidence-based policymaking and investment decisions.
By 2030, AITEC World aims to ensure that every African nation will operate a comprehensive tourism dashboard aligned with international standards.
Strategic Action Plan 2025–2030
The organization’s six-pillar strategy seeks to drive measurable progress across the continent:
- Development of sustainable tourism and hospitality.
- Economic cooperation and strategic investments.
- Promotion of culture and creative industries.
- Innovation and digital transformation.
- Mobilization of the African diaspora.
- Sustainable development and climate resilience.
Amb. Bouraima concluded by reaffirming AITEC World’s vision:
“Africa wins when it opens to the world. The world wins when it opens to Africa.”
