AITEC World President Joins Blood Donors in Cotonou to Promote “Health and Safety Tourism” in Benin

COTONOU

In a bold move that underscores the role of tourism in advancing national well-being, Ambassador Dine Bouraima, President of the Africa-International Tourism and Economic Council (AITEC World), joined dozens of blood donors yesterday at the Benin Royal Hotel in Cotonou. The initiative was carried out under the banner of “Project Health and Safety Tourism,” one of the thematic pillars of AITEC World at the Commission level.

The event, aimed at encouraging public health awareness and voluntary blood donation, reflects AITEC World’s growing commitment to integrating health and wellness into tourism development strategies across Africa. By participating in this life-saving gesture, Amb. Bouraima not only demonstrated personal leadership but also emphasized the strategic relevance of a healthy citizenry to a thriving tourism sector.

“Health and safety are fundamental to the sustainability of tourism. Without a healthy population, we cannot truly promote or enjoy our destinations. And when we donate blood, it helps those in need and also helps us as donors, rejuvenating our blood system, said Amb. Bouraima. “This is why AITEC World is championing initiatives that support public health as a key component of our vision for tourism-driven socio-economic development.”

“Project Health and Safety Tourism” is one of several Commission-level themes AITEC World is promoting to align tourism growth with broader developmental goals, including environmental sustainability, education, and public safety. Yesterday’s blood donation drive was organized in collaboration with local health stakeholders and was warmly received by the public.

AITEC World continues to expand its influence and relevance across the continent, advocating for tourism as a tool for continental integration, social upliftment, and economic empowerment. The Cotonou event serves as a model for how tourism organizations can directly contribute to nation-building, beyond traditional travel and hospitality frameworks.

As the Council gears up for its forthcoming multi-city launches and programs, this initiative reinforces AITEC World’s message: tourism is not just about places—it’s about people, progress, and purpose.
