COTONOU-
In such a remarkable show of commitment to sustainable development and community well-being, Bénin Royal Hôtel in partnership with Africa-International Tourism and Economic Council (AITEC World) organized a major blood donation drive to mark World Tourism Day 2025 today . The event, held at the premises of Bénin Royal Hôtel in Cotonou, aligned with this year’s global theme, “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.”
Speaking at the event, Amb. Dine Bouraima, President of AITEC World and CEO of Bénin Royal Hôtel, emphasized that the initiative reflects the broader vision of both institutions: embedding sustainability at the heart of tourism. He noted that sustainable tourism goes beyond environmental preservation, extending into the well-being of communities through health initiatives, solidarity, and corporate social responsibility (CSR).

“The theme of World Tourism Day this year resonates deeply with our values. Sustainable transformation in tourism must also mean sustainable health for communities. By organizing this blood donation drive, we reaffirm our belief that tourism must touch lives positively, directly and indirectly,” Amb. Bouraima said.
The event attracted local and international stakeholders, including Mr. Mamoudou Aw, a dedicated AITEC World member who traveled from Mali to join the commemoration. Expressing his appreciation, he highlighted the importance of integrating community health into tourism-related initiatives, noting that it reinforces tourism’s role as a catalyst for human development.
The blood donation drive symbolized more than just a corporate social responsibility gesture; it underscored the evolving understanding of tourism as a driver of holistic sustainability. By linking the celebration of World Tourism Day with health advocacy, Bénin Royal Hôtel and AITEC World have set a precedent for innovative, people-centered approaches to tourism development.
As the world reflects on Tourism and Sustainable Transformation, the initiative in Cotonou demonstrates that tourism’s impact is not confined to economic growth and cultural exchange—it is also about ensuring healthier, more resilient communities.
