ACCRA-

The second day of the WHX Leaders Summit, held in Accra, Ghana, on December 10, 2025, was marked by a powerful moment of recognition, unity, and cultural diplomacy as the Ghanaian Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, was formally honoured for his outstanding leadership and contributions to the health sector.

In a ceremony that blended high-level policy dialogue with deep cultural symbolism, the Minister was presented with the Panu di Pinti, a revered traditional textile and one of Guinea-Bissau’s most treasured cultural emblems. The honour was bestowed in recognition of Hon. Akandoh’s commitment to advancing public health, strengthening health systems, and championing regional cooperation in healthcare development.

The presentation was led by Mr. Adnane Yahya, Secretary General of COPITOUR–ECOWAS and National Representative of AITEC World in Guinea-Bissau, alongside Honourable Augusto Gomes, former Minister of Health of Guinea-Bissau. Their joint presence underscored the strong spirit of solidarity and shared purpose among West African leaders and institutions working toward sustainable development.

Among the distinguished witnesses to this symbolic moment was Amb. Nancy Sam, Vice President of COPITOUR and Regional Representative for West Africa at AITEC World, whose presence further highlighted the regional importance of the recognition and the collaborative ethos of the Summit.

Regarded by Guineans as a true national treasure, the Panu di Pinti is far more than a fabric. It is a cultural symbol of remarkable originality and profound social meaning. Traditionally offered to honour distinguished personalities, the Panu di Pinti represents fraternity, friendship, respect, and gratitude, making it a fitting tribute to a leader whose work transcends national boundaries.

The presentation of this cultural emblem at the WHX Leaders Summit served as a reminder that leadership is not only measured by policy outcomes but also by the values of cooperation, mutual respect, and cultural understanding. It reinforced the role of culture as a bridge in diplomacy and as a powerful tool for strengthening bonds among nations.

As discussions at the Summit continued around innovation, leadership, and the future of healthcare in Africa, this moment stood out as a testament to the shared vision of West African leaders: a healthier continent built on collaboration, respect, and shared heritage.
