AITEC World: Vice President Kazeem Balogun Presents Roadmap, Strategic Pillars, Calls for Global Partnership and Collaboration at 2nd launch in Addis Ababa

At the 2nd launch of Africa International Tourism and Economic Council (AITEC World) on the 6th of November at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) there was a need to explain what AITEC World stands, its mission, vision, roadmap and strategic moves. This is what follows as presented by the Vice President of the organisation:

Your Excellencies, Distinguished Guests, Esteemed Stakeholders, Ladies and Gentlemen,

It gives me immense pleasure to stand before this distinguished audience gathered here at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa — a venue symbolic of unity, progress, and Africa’s global reawakening. On behalf of the leadership of the Africa-International Tourism and Economic Council (AITEC World), I warmly welcome all dignitaries, partners, and stakeholders from across continents who have come to witness this momentous second launch of our organization.

Today, we reaffirm our collective resolve to build a stronger bridge — linking Africa to the world and the world to Africa — through tourism, trade, culture, and economic collaboration.

Introducing AITEC World

The Africa-International Tourism and Economic Council (AITEC World) is not just an organization — it is a transformative global platform. We recognize the critical role that both African and international tourism play in shaping the global economy. Our mission is simple yet profound: to integrate Africa’s tourism potential into the global economy by promoting investments, partnerships, and sustainable policies that create shared prosperity.

We envision becoming the leading international authority connecting Africa with global tourism and economic opportunities — fostering collaboration, innovation, and inclusive development that benefits all regions of the world.

Our Strategic Vision — Six Pillars for Transformation

To achieve our mission, AITEC World operates under six strategic pillars designed to redefine global tourism cooperation:

1. Strengthening Africa’s and Global Tourism Brand:
   We aim to position nations as global tourism powerhouses, supporting flagship cultural and investment projects that could attract up to 10 million new visitors annually by 2035.
2. Improving Mobility and Connectivity:
   AITEC World advocates for visa waivers and increased direct air routes between Africa and other continents, ensuring that travel becomes a seamless global experience.
3. Driving Investment and Economic Growth:
   We target USD 500 million in global tourism investments by 2030, empowering 1,000 SMEs and youth-led enterprises to thrive through innovation and sustainable growth.
4. Strengthening Policies, Data, and Innovation:
   AITEC World will launch a Global Tourism Data Portal (Data Tourism Project) by 2026 and host 10 annual global dialogues to foster cooperation in tourism, diplomacy, and development.
5. Promoting Sustainable and Inclusive Development:
   We are committed to advancing eco-tourism in major biodiversity zones and signing 30 international partnerships with global institutions such as UN Tourism, UNESCO, the African Union, and the European Union.
6. Integrating African and International Tourism:
   Through joint programs and projects, AITEC World seeks to merge African and global tourism strategies, enhancing competitiveness and collaboration across borders.

Our Roadmap:

Our operational framework is progressive and in phases:

Phase 1 (Years 1–2): Building strong foundations and partnerships.

Phase 2 (Years 3–5): Implementing regional pilot projects and enhancing visibility.

Phase 3 (Years 6–10): Achieving full global integration and sustainable impact.

Governance and Structure

AITEC World is led by a forward-thinking governance structure that ensures accountability and inclusivity.
The organization is guided by a President, supported by four Vice Presidents overseeing Sustainable Tourism, Strategic Development, Innovation and Youth Empowerment, Communications and International Relations.

We have Regional Representaives, National Representatives, Global Ambassadors, and Technical Commissioners working as the “engine room” of our initiatives, driving tangible results across continents.
